This 1998 Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution is one of approximately 2,700 examples produced, and it shows 99k kilometers (~62k miles) following its importation to the US under prior ownership. It is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 linked with a five-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, a locking center differential, and limited-slip front and rear differentials. The truck is finished in Satellite Silver Metallic over black cloth, and it is equipped with an Evolution-specific front bumper and flared fenders in addition to dual hood scoops, quad fog lights, red Ralliart mud flaps, a roof spoiler, 16″ six-spoke alloy wheels, Recaro front seats, a Kenwood Excelon head unit, aftermarket speakers, and automatic climate control. Acquired by the seller in 2024, this Pajero Evolution is now offered in California with a clean Montana title in name of the seller’s LLC.
The Pajero Evolution was introduced in 1997 after being developed as a homologation model for the 1998 running of the Paris-Dakar Rally. This example is finished in Satellite Silver Metallic (A69) and has an Evolution-specific front bumper with quad fog lights in addition to flared fenders with front cooling ducts. Other features include a fender-mounted mirror, a roof spoiler, dual hood scoops, red Ralliart mud flaps, and side steps. Photographs of blemishes are shown in the gallery.
The 16″ six-spoke alloy wheels show blemishes and are mounted with Hankook Dynapro HT tires. A matching spare wheel wears a Yokohama Geolander G/T tire that is housed on the rear cargo door. Braking is handled by four-wheel anti-lock discs.
The right-hand-drive cabin houses Recaro front bucket seats and a split-folding rear bench trimmed in black cloth with patterned inserts. Interior appointments include a Kenwood Excelon head unit, carbon-fiber trim, aftermarket speakers, cruise control, automatic climate control, and power windows and locks. The air-conditioning compressor was recently replaced, and there is a tear in the left-front seat.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 180-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. A compass and readouts for battery voltage and oil pressure are mounted atop the dashboard. The six-digit odometer shows 99k kilometers (~62k miles), approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.5-liter 6G74 V6 features MIVEC variable valve timing and was factory rated at 276 horsepower and 256 lb-ft of torque. The timing belt has been replaced under current ownership.
Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, a locking center differential, and limited-slip front and rear differentials.
The vehicle has not been inspected by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair or Air Resources Board, and it cannot be sold to an in-state private party buyer.
