There have been a few articles out there but this is the most complete one I have found.

The article notes that nothing has been confirmed by the administration at this point.

The article correctly notes that closing all HUD offices in a state requires Congressional approval.

Hopefully President Trump can drag Congress across the finish line on this issue.

More comments—there is a discussion about probationary employees already fired and the planned RIF (reduction in force).

Another enormous sinkhole of corruption and theft of taxpayer funds, that definitely should be closed and eliminated completely.

Yup—there are billions and billions and billions of dollars of waste, fraud and abuse and evil to be found here.

The Community block grants are Democrat slush funds to Democrat cities and need to be ended.

Most public housing authorities (funded by HUD) need full body cavity search forensic audits—the corruption is off the charts.

I don’t think there is one agency that hasn’t been corrupted, How foolish we all are that we believed they were doing the right thing when all along they were enriching themselves and their families and guaranteeing their control over this thiefdom they created. This cannot go unpunished and I hope the anger of the American people doesn’t fade and we can get to this point where they will all face justice

Bilowich said service reductions at HUD tend to affect older adults who rely on the agency’s programs, including Section 202, which provides low-income people who are 62 or older with low-cost housing and services for independent living.

I don’t think HUD provides direct services. They fund local programs and CBDG grants, etc. So the programs will continue, just managed from regional offices not one in every state.

HUD was founded in 1965.

They probably spent a trillion dollars—to turn American cities into toxic waste dumps.

Correct—the article had some dumb leftist propaganda in there.

Section 202 subsidies are provided to specific elderly housing projects so they can afford to provide housing to poor elderly folks.

Those subsidies could be managed out of any office.

In addition AI could assist in monitoring waste, fraud and abuse. That could also be done out of any office.

The “local offices” are an artifact of Congressional pork.

My wife and I just watched The French Connection. She had never seen it. I had not seen it in decades.
One of the things she kept mentioning was how much trash was just laying everywhere they filmed in NYC back in 1970-71.
The place was a dump everywhere except maybe Park Ave.

Not saying HUD had anything to do with it. NYC is a lot better than it was in 1970. Maybe it was all Rudy and Stop & Frisk.

Sad how the government has to take care of our seniors because their families can’t be bothered.

HUD housing should have been built next door to the police stations to 1) protect seniors from 2) the crack houses and drug dealers. And build CPS on the other side. Now, there’s your 15 minute cities.

Housing and Urban Development (HUD) belongs under the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Several decades ago these former cities transitioned into open air prisons/mental asylums.

Have they ever found the $100bln Andrew Cuomo stole from HUD when he ran it?

IIRC, the agency was doling out grant money to ACORN (one of the original ballot-harvesting groups) for years, before James O'Keefe torpedoed that organization and the feds had to backtrack. HUD's meddling has hurt more than the cities.
