Alaska Legislature shoots down Dunleavy agriculture department plan

The Alaska Legislature narrowly rejected Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s executive order for a standalone state agriculture department during a joint session on Wednesday.

Lawmakers voted 32-28 on a joint resolution disapproving the order, with many citing the need to create an agriculture department that would involve input from across the state.
