European Commission to wean off Russian oil, gas imports after Trump criticism: Trump has said Europe should make up for US trade deficit by purchasing more US fuel supplies

The European Commission is working on a proposal to cut off Russian oil and gas imports after facing criticism for heavy dependence on Russian President Vladimir Putin for energy.
A vote on the proposal is expected on May 6, though the exact date may change, a spokesperson for the commission told Fox News Digital.
"It will be a comprehensive plan to phase out Russian fossil fuels from the European energy market," spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen said, declining to share any further details.
The deal may include increasing U.S. natural gas imports, as Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen has suggested in the past.
The EU currently relies on the U.S. for about half of its LNG. President Donald Trump has said Europe should make up for the U.S. trade deficit by purchasing more U.S. fuel supplies.
"They’re going to have to buy their energy from us, because they need it," Trump said last week.
The EU spent roughly $23 billion on Russian oil and gas imports last year, surpassing the $19.6 billion it provided in financial aid to Ukraine, which was a point Trump criticized in his joint address to Congress last month.

Why buy your oil and gas from nearby when you’re only an ocean away from America?

Are the US taxpayers going subsidize cheap energy for the Europeans who are screwing us in trade deficits? Try to buy a US car in Germany.

One word “Relability”.
If Russia was even close to being reliable suppliers,
they’d be a very rich nation.
They have vast natural resources and
in a lot of cases no way to exploit them.
Nobody trusts them!

---- "Please pray for God ‘s intervention to stop The Ukraine and its green-shirted punk."
It is interesting, now that our election is finished which made a clear distinction between potential administrations, that a next administration for Ukraine seems rarely a topic of conversation.
Room for watchfulness as one reads, "A vote on the proposal is expected on May 6, though the exact date may change...." So wait until 6 May -- or later -- to find out what the real story will be.
One comment at the end of the article said, "Ssssh! European leadership is speaking. It will be more of the same from them. It's called NATO: ' no action, talk only'."
And the one following: "The War will be over before the EU stops buying Russian oil."
The news is more complex than a headline per se:
Back to Russian gas? Trump-wary EU has energy security dilemma Reuters, 14 April 2025EU imports of Russian fossil fuels in third year of invasion surpass financial aid sent to Ukraine Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air, 10 April 2025
EU explores legal options for ending Russian gas deals Financial Times, 15 April 2025
EU Officials Discuss Restart of Russian Gas as Part of Ukraine Peace Deal OilPrice, 30 January 2025
Europe Somehow Still Depends on Russia's Energy Foreign Policy, 3 January 2025
European Union spent more on Russian fossil fuels than Ukraine aid in 2024 FOX News, 3 March 2025
More will be known after that proposed EU vote, that date of which might change, and May 6 is a long three weeks from now.
But the above comments on FOX echo. This all could be "No action, all talk."
What's sure is that European nations in the EU will be paying more for defense and more for energy too, not to mention the continuing Muslim mess and gathering costs of green policies.

That’s good news. The EU has been floating ideas of getting cheap Russian gas again and then beef up their military so they can attack Russia. Now they will remain forever broke. Not sure if Putin even would want to sell to the psychotics anyway.

President Trump and VP Vance pissed her off royally when they spoke out on our behalf during the Feb. 28th. Oval Office meeting with her boy toy Zelensky.
She’s taking shots at Vance out in the open and giving the President subtle, little slaps for now.
She’s afraid to bash Trump openly because that could get her thrown off FR.
NOBODY MESSES WITH HER BOY TOY!
