998cc-Powered Austin Mini

This right-hand-drive Austin Mini spent time in South Africa before being relocated to the UK under previous ownership in the late 2010s. It is noted to have been re-shelled using a 1970s Mk III body and fitted with a later 998cc A+ inline-four before being acquired by the seller and brought to the US in 2024. Finished in beige with black graphics, the car features a “wavy” grille, bullet-style side mirrors, and Mk I–look taillights. It rides on 10″ Revolution Alloys wheels and has a Hi-Lo adjustable suspension kit as well as 7.5″ front disc brakes. Inside, fixed-back bucket seats are trimmed in black vinyl and accompanied by a Springalex steering wheel and Securon harnesses. The engine is equipped with dual SU carburetors as well as an upgraded ignition system and an aluminum radiator, while shifting is through a four-speed manual transaxle. This modified Mini is now offered in California with partial service records and a Montana title in the name of the seller’s LLC listing the car as a 1965 Austin Mini Cooper.

The seller tells us that the car started out as a South African–built Mk I Austin Mini and was re-shelled at some point under previous ownership utilizing what is believed to be a 1970s Mk III body. Repainted in its current beige finish, the car features blended body-color wheel arch extensions as well as roll-down door windows, pop-out rear quarter windows, and Mk I–look taillights. The hood wears a black number plate graphic, while color-coordinated #33 meatballs appear on the doors. Further details include a “wavy” grille, bullet-style side mirrors, a Le-Mans-style fuel cap, and a polished exhaust finisher. The roof antenna mast is missing, and bubbling is noted on the fenders. The seller recommends replacing the right window regulator.
