Tropical Depression Nine

Tropical Depression Nine formed between the NE coast of Cuba and the Bahamas. The forecast generally anticipates the system moving NNW before stalling off the SC coast. SC Governor Henry McMaster has issued a state of emergency to access and deploy resources and personnel to prepare for and respond to the storm. “While the storm’s arrival, speed, and intensity remain hard to predict, we do know that it will bring significant wind, heavy rainfall, and flooding across the ENTIRE state of South Carolina,” McMaster said. “We have seen this before. Now is the time to start paying attention to forecasts, updates, and alerts from official sources and begin making preparations.”
Given significant uncertainties in the long-range forecast track and intensity, it is too soon to determine what, if any, impacts could occur.
Watches and warnings have been issued for the Bahamas. A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for East Coast of Florida.

Love potion Number Nine...
So long as they steer away from landfall, we can put up with the heavy rain and sometimes strong winds with attendant storm surge.

I have my new metal roof on for this year. Hurricane Milton finished off my shingle roof last year.

The good news for the Carolinas is its not going to be as big a rainmaker as HELENE last year. And current forecast after a 24 stall off Carolina coast it skedaddles east and not west into those mountains. Be safe, be vigilant and God Bless!

This map is pretty specific compared to the spaghetti map the news had just last night. Models had it taking a left turn over South Carolina, moving towards DC, moving along the coast, and making a right turn east of South Carolina.

Ha! Hardly a vacation. Rebuilding first floor continues from Hurricane Helene flooding, one year ago yesterday. It will take a lot of years for the saplings I planted to replace the seven shade trees lost to Hurricane Milton, ten days after Helene. But my lawn is looking lush and green after I re-sodded. Salt water flooding does a lot of damage.

Atlantic hurricane peak is Sept 10. Not out of the woods, but pretty much a quite down year.
Good :)
