Condé Nast writer fired for confronting HR boss panders for rent money

One of four journalists recently fired by Condé Nast for confronting the company’s head of human resources is asking internet users for help covering his rent.

Ex-senior writer for Wired Jake Lahut was seen in a Wednesday video clip standing feet away from HR boss Stan Duncan as angry employees confronted to exec over layoffs tied to Condé’s downsizing of Teen Vogue. The layoffs of Lahut and three others came just hours later.

Lahut wrote on Spotfund that he’s seeking short-term help in the wake of his firing.

“After getting terminated as one of the Fired Four at Condé Nast, I need to shore up a couple months of rent as I get on my feet,” he wrote.

“Any amount helps,” Lahut added. “Plus, New York is expensive!”

This is really pretty funny.

Several unionized employees of Condé Nast's Teen Vogue confronted the company's HR head Stan Duncan in the hallway, trying to bait him into a debate while being recorded on video. The footage made its way to the internet, apparently by way of Wired Magazine.

Mr. Duncan refused to play along, and several of the employees who were involved have been terminated. The NYC union has gotten involved, saying they were unfairly fired in violation of the union's collective bargaining agreement.

The situation is covered in somewhat more depth in this video by Clownfish: Activist Journos FAFO, Get FIRED for Harassing HR Exec on Camera!

>> “Any amount helps,” Lahut added...

I saw someone on FR advocate giving $0.01 to ridiculous GoFundYourself etc. beggars, the theory being that it costs more to collect than the amount given.

Might just give it a whirl with this lefty douchebag...

“After getting terminated as one of the Fired Four at Condé Nast, I need to shore up a couple months of rent as I get on my feet,” he wrote.

How about learning a couple new phrases:

“My pleasure. Can I get you anything else?”

“Will you be needing help getting the bags to your car?

If I were a TRILLIONAIRE I wouldn’t give someone like this a single penny.

Apparently one of the confronters is a male identifying transsexual.

The article concerns one Jake Lahut, who was formerly employed by Wired, which, like Teen Vogue, is owned by Condé Nast.

Lahut was the "White House correspondent" for Wired, until he was fired. Happened just the other day. It was gettin' kinda long, coulda said it was in my way. Ahem.

What was I saying? Oh...

Lahut, who's voice can be heard on the video, demanding the head of HR to define what the word "congretating" means, is the one who is now begging for rent money on the internet.

"A couple months of rent" in NYC could easily be $10K.

I tried insubordination as a youth. How dare the boss not let me run the place?!

I stopped doing that.

He should move to Utah or Idaho, a writer can write anywhere these days, no need to stay in one of the most expensive cities in the world, one can write trash anywhere.
