A new report has emerged that LSU is set to make a massive offer to lure away Lane Kiffin. Putting Ole Miss in the position to start thinking about who will be their next head coach in the middle of a chase to get to the National Championship game this season.

While it took some time, Kiffin has turned Ole Miss into a consistent powerhouse in the SEC for the first time since the 1960s. Unfortunately, it has raised his status around college football in a major way, and once Florida and LSU fired their head coaches, the speculation quickly intensified that they would target the Rebels’ coach.

Well, the rumors are turning into a reality, and Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger is reporting that LSU is planning to make a massive $90 million offer to Kiffin very soon. It is becoming more and more likely, Kiffin won’t be in Oxford next year. With that in mind, let’s look at five potential Kiffin replacement options after the season.

Jon Sumrall, Tulane Green Wave

Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall has quickly risen up the head coach rankings because of his work over the last four years with his current team and at his previous stop, Troy. He brought the Trojans back to respectability after several bad years by posting 11 and 12-win seasons. It landed him the job with the Green Wave, and he’s been able to maintain the standard set by Willie Fritz. He has his team positioned to win 10 games in 2025. The 43-year-old will definitely be on Ole Miss’s candidate short list.

Ryan Silverfield, Memphis Tigers

Memphis has always been known as a basketball school. However, coach Ryan Silverfield has turned the program into a consistent force in the American Conference. He even did something his predecessor, Mike Norvell, was unable to do in back-to-back double-digit win seasons. The 45-year-old has many admirers around the sport and is sure to land a bigger job soon.

Brian Hartline, Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State offensive coordinator Brian Hartline has become one of the hottest head coach candidates in college football due to his success helping to oversee the Buckeyes’ offense the last two years. He was always well respected for his ability to recruit and develop NFL-level receivers. However, he has shown in 2025 that he is far more than that and is a key part of why Ohio State is well-positioned to win a second straight title this season.

Eli Drinkwitz, Missouri

Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz is another fast-rising name in the coaching ranks due to his impressive work leading the Tigers over the last few seasons. While success did not come as fast for him as it did at Appalachian State, Drinkwitz has shown he can rebuild a program from the ground up. He will have even more resources at Ole Miss. But most importantly, he has an in-depth knowledge of the SEC and has proven he knows how to win in the deep conference.

Clark Lea, Vanderbilt

Although Clark Lea has some rough early years at Vanderbilt, the 2024 SEC Coach of the Year has emerged as a sleeper choice for several jobs in 2026. In his fifth season overseeing the Commodores football program, he has his team ranked in the top 15 and in striking distance of a college football playoff spot. If he takes Vanderbilt to the CFP, he will be on Ole Miss’s Lane Kiffin replacements list.
