What SNAP Recipients Need To Know About Walmart+ Assist

(TheDailyCurrents.com) – The Walmart+ Assist membership program was launched by Walmart to provide cost saving membership packages to individuals on the Medicaid and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Members of the Walmart+ Assist program are able to shop their grocery and receive free shipping services. They are also eligible for video streaming and gas discounts, and they get a 50% monthly and annual discount.

What is the Walmart+ Program?

The Walmart+ Assist program was established for the sole purpose of providing assistance to those who require more help. Customers who are on the SNAP program and government-assistance programs can enjoy huge cost-saving benefits as a result of the program.

How to Qualify for the Walmart+ Assist Program

The Walmart+ Assist program is available for new or existing Walmart members. All existing members qualify for the program, and they can sign up by visiting the Walmart website; however, they will be required to verify their membership through SheerID.

SheerID is a third-party service that helps Walmart in verifying the affiliations of all existing members on their behalf.

If any individual fails to prove their eligibility, Walmart will not approve their enrollment to the Walmart+ Assist program.

Once verified, the verification status is eligible for a year and begins right from the date that an individual pays for the Walmart+ Assist program.

All members of the Walmart+ Assist program need to undergo verification annually, with the entire process being conducted offline and without any input from the customer in most scenarios. If the annual verification fails, your eligibility of the Walmart+ Assist program will be paused.

You will not continue enjoying the benefits of the Walmart+ Assist plan, and your existing plan will auto-renew for a price of $12.95 per months or at an annual price of $98 until you opt to cancel membership. Any changes to the membership plan will be communicated to you via email.

You can sign up for the Walmart+ Assist program once you’re approved to enjoy the new prices provided by the Walmart+ Assist membership ($6.47 per month and $49 per year).

You can now be able to enjoy the cost-saving benefits provided by the Walmart+ Assist program.

Once approved for the Walmart+ Assist program, you can now enjoy a discounted price. The old plan is canceled and if there’s any portion that is left unused, Walmart will provide you with a complete refund. The new plan with the discounted price will begin as soon as the previous plan is cancelled.

If Walmart is unable to refund you, they will provide you with a gift card based on the amount that was to be refunded.

Walmart Support for SNAP Members

Walmart has previously provided its government assistance clients with additional support programs and in 2019, the company was among the first retailers who embraced the SNAP Online Purchase program that was provided by USDA.

The program provides clients with the option of paying for their purchases using the SNAP program, and this provides better access to delivery and pickup services.

Walmart is currently one of the few retailers who allow the benefits of the SNAP program in all fifty U.S. states. Walmart accounts for approximately 25.5% of SNAP shoppers according to recent data released in May.

Companies That Offer Programs for SNAP Recipients

Some of the most popular retailers that provide programs to SNAP recipients include Target, FarmboxRx Walmart and Amazon.

These major retailers allow online EBT payments, which means that individuals on the SNAP program will have to cover the additional fees that come with grocery pickups and delivery.

Amazon currently accepts SNAP EBT cards for all U.S. states except for Montana, Hawaii, Alaska and Louisiana.

FarmboxRx also accepts the use of SNAP EBT cards for all grocery pickups and delivery.

Target allows online SNAP payments for all grocery items that are eligible on the SNAP program, and all clients can take advantage of the program while using Shipt; Target’s delivery service.
