Memo calls for review of $65 billion in contracts that go to Booz Allen Hamilton and other big firms that do government work

Elon Musk’s marathon of government cuts in his first month at DOGE echoes his Twitter takeover back in 2022.

Booz Allen Hamilton, a company that generates 98% of its revenue from U.S. government contracts, is facing potential cuts as the Trump administration reviews federal spending.

The General Services Administration has identified 10 consulting firms, including Booz Allen, that are set to receive over $65 billion in fees in the coming years, and is asking agencies to justify why these contracts are mission critical.

Booz Allen CEO Horacio Rozanski says the company is well-aligned with the Trump administration's priorities and is already talking to officials about how to deploy its technology in areas such as space defenses and fraud reduction.

The Trump administration is looking to cut federal contracts. Few companies stand as exposed as Booz Allen Hamilton BAH -4.09%decrease; red down pointing triangle.

The venerable Washington, D.C., area firm works on projects across the U.S. government. It operates a website visitors use to reserve campsites at national parks. It is modernizing healthcare records for veterans, beefing up technology at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and rolling out a suite of artificial-intelligence and cybersecurity tools across the Department of Defense and other federal agencies.

Great to see that Musk is now going after the Consultants who do the work that incompetent Federal employees are incapable of doing.

Yup—more than 90% of these contracts are garbage and should be terminated immediately.

Booz Allen is the company that employed the leaker who gave out 400,000+ tax returns to Pro Publica and Trump’s returns to the NYT. It’s not clear to me why private company employees must have access to such government records.

What, exactly, do they do for all that money?

Booz Allen has had it made in the shade with their gov’t contracts for over 35 years now.

Seems the Interior department could handle park reservations with the right software.
Overpriced satellites need to go.

The Beltway Bandits have been, and will continue to be, a serious drain on our tax dollars. They are extremely well-connected and their roots underpin most of government.

“Consulting” work.

I know someone who retired from Booz Allen last year.

She used to rake in the bucks off of her job.

“””What, exactly, do they do for all that money?”””

Well, I suspect the Booz, Hamilton etal consultants have been very busy this past week helping the Fed employees write their 5 bullets points as to what the employee did this past week.

These type of companies need the Federal government to carve off some of their work, if it’s truly needed, to other outfits. Then, pared down to the federal government work by 50% or more, the company can look to work in private industry more. Then later fedweral budget or contract cuts won’t be so devastating to them.

In the long term it is not good for the government or the company to be so dependent on each other.

For a long time now, this has been the game. Government agencies hire people and they can’t do the work and they don’t get fired. It doesn’t matter. The agencies then bring in contractors to do the work, especially technical work.

In my experience, the government hired contractors so they did not have to hire government workers. It has been nearly impossible to fire government workers, while contractors can hire and fire at will.

The idea is the contractors can do a lot of tasks cheaper than government employees can, and with less red tape.

That 7500 dollar tax credit from the fed govt to buy EVs is gone, I am presuming.

That plus the 18 billion Tesla got the past decade from the fed govt should be the end of it :)

He’s doing a great job...and for free.

I guess after dealing with the fed gov through his businesses, he understands where the waste is.

A consultant is someone who knows 99 ways to make love to a woman. But doesn't know any women.

Those who can, do. Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't do or teach, Consult.
